Kemteck to construct 900 houses in Trelawny
FLORENCE HALL, Trelawny — Over 100 people have so far gained employment on the first phase of Stonebrook Manor, a planned gated community which, when complete, will consist of roughly 900 housing units.
The project is being constructed by Kemtek Development and Construction Limited.
According to Kemtek director of operations Garwin Tulloch, more employment opportunities will be opened up as the project gathers steam.
“We definitely will have to employ several more workers as the project progresses,” Tulloch told the Jamaica Observer West.
Meanwhile, during Saturday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new scheme, Garwin’s brother, Karl Tulloch, Kemtek’s director of administration and special projects, noted that already sales for the units are going at a brisk pace.
Started three months ago, the Stonebrook Manor project, which is scheduled to deliver two- and three-bedroom units, comes on the heels of two developments by the projects, namely: Stonebrook Vista and Stonebrook Estate. The three projects are situated in close proximity.
Meanwhile, minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Dr Horace Chang, hailed the patriarch of the family-operated Kemtek, Sylvester Tulloch, for consistently producing high-quality housing units.
“Sylvester Tulloch is building his own legacy with his family and I think it is a most notable feature that ought to be recognised and respected. He brings integrity and quality to what he is doing,” Dr Chang emphasised.
“Most people who have bought these houses will tell you the Kemtek houses are the best in its class.”
Mayor of Falmouth Colin Gager also had high praises for Kemtek, noting there have been no complaints from people who have bought any of the Stonebrook houses.
“Mr Tulloch is one of those developers who delivers. We don’t have any problems. And I can tell you sometimes we have people coming back after they have purchased a house from other developments and they would complain that the roof is falling apart, the this, the that. We have never, ever had a complaint at the Trelawny Parish Council (Trelawny Municipal Corporation) about Mr Tulloch’s houses,” the Falmouth mayor asserted.
Kemtek’s director of operations said that their mantra is to complete houses of the highest standard.
“We put a lot of work in it. Personally, any unit that we build is something we would live in,” Garwin remarked.
He noted that of the 14 projects of the company, which commenced initial development in St Catherine 27 years ago, business in Trelawny has been the most robust.
“Trelawny has been good to us. We have actually sold the greatest number of units in Trelawny,” he said.
