Imani and Geovaunni
From the bride…
“We met each other over a church Zoom meeting, where we were both assigned positions on the youth committee — him as my assistant. As we worked closely together, we grew closer,” Imani Hill tells TSV.
“During a formal dinner at youth camp, Geo (Geovaunni Thompson) took the initiative to set a table with candlelight, just for the two of us, and it felt so romantic. What meant most to us was that our relationship was grounded in Christ. I was so sure that Geo was the one that I called my mom after camp to tell her I had found my husband,” says the Santa Cruz native.
The two would go on to meet each other’s families and embark on a journey that was destined for marriage.
“What drew me to him was his consistency and the genuine effort he made to make me happy. It wasn’t just a façade — he was real from the start. I had prayed for a man who treated me with the same love and respect my father shows my mother, and I found all those qualities in my him. We share more than just love; we share a deep bond, grounded in faith and understanding. Interestingly, we were both born in October, just one day apart!” says Imani.
From the groom…
“What drew me to her was how beautiful and God-fearing she was on that
Zoom meeting. Her smile captivated my heart so I went and told my friends who were on that youth executive with me about her and, boys being boys, they said, ‘Geo you cyah make she come and you nuh married to her’. Even though she tried to play hard to get I took it as a challenge to win her heart which took quite a few months, honestly, but it was well worth it,” Geovaunni shares.
“I proposed to her over dinner on her birthday. In the sweetest surprise, I placed the ring in her cake. It was a moment I’ll never forget,” says Geovaunni.
Imani said yes!
