Japanese government hands over land cruisers to the JCF
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Japanese Government has gifted 27 new land cruisers to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
The JCF says the vehicles have an enhanced communication system, allowing for commands to be delivered clearly and audibly. They will be deployed for patrols, investigations, and other law enforcement activities.
Japanese Ambassador to Jamaica Yasuhiro Atsumi presented the vehicles during a ceremony at the Offices of the Commissioner of Police on Tuesday.
Also attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Horace Chang, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Karina Powell-Hood.
Powell-Hood, who represented Commissioner of Police Kevin Blake, said“The addition of these vehicles to our fleet, especially [during] the yuletide season, represents more than just additional resources. It is an investment in the effectiveness of our operations [and the] mobility of our officers, and the safety of our communities.”
