Processing of farm workers unable to reach labour ministry today will be rescheduled
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Individuals selected for the overseas farm work programme and are being processed today (May 16), are urged to exercise extreme caution as they make their way to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, in downtown Kingston.
Meanwhile, the ministry said that some 200 farm workers are scheduled to leave for Canada tomorrow (May 17), and they are being processed. Some workers are also slated to travel to the United States on the same day.The ministry pointed out that people who are not processed today will be accommodated as soon as they come in and arrangements made with the airline to have them leave the island.
A statement from Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Collette Roberts Risden, said the ministry will endeavour to reschedule the processing of people who are unable to come in today.
The statement comes as the island is being affected by heavy rainfall, making it difficult for people to travel.
