Diver’s shark-bitten hand sent to forensic lab
A human hand, believed to be that of 29 year-old water sport operator, Frank Blake, of West End, Negril Westmoreland, which was found on the ocean floor in the parish Wednesday, has been fingerprinted and sent to the forensic lab for testing.
The police said that at about 10:30 Wednesday morning, the hand, with several bite marks believed to be inflicted by sharks, was spotted in the water by divers and subsequently removed. A pair of sneakers believed to be Blake’s, was found on a nearby cliff.
According to the police, at about 5:30 Tuesday afternoon, Blake and three other men were entertaining tourists by diving in the sea when there was a collision between him and one of the men. The other man received injuries and was helped from the water. Blake, however, did not surface.
It was reported that as part of his entertainment act, Blake had been known to dive and resurface at a nearby cave.
