Woman arrested on capital charge
Glereen Green, 38, is now facing the capital charge following the stabbing death of her common-law-husband, Uton Mitchell, at Timber Close, Irwin Heights, St James Sunday night.
The police reported that at about 8:30 pm, Mitchell, an electrician, and Green reportedly had an altercation. During the exchange, Green allegedly stabbed Mitchell in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
The Mount Salem police said Green later gave herself into the police and was subsequently arrested and charged.
Cops find gun, ammunition in Green Mount
The Cottage police in Manchester seized an illegal firearm and magazine containing three rounds of ammunition at Green Mount district in the parish on Sunday. No one was arrested. According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), at about 3:30 pm, the police conducted an operation in the Green Mount area. During the operation, one Lorcin 9mm pistol, with its serial number erased, and a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition were found hidden in bushes.
American couple on cocaine rap
An American couple was arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the Sangster International Airport Sunday.
The couple, charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export cocaine, is Daryl Legion, 49, self employed, and his 32 year-old wife, Darlisa, housewife, both of H Street, SE Washington DC, USA.
The CCN said that at about 2:30 pm, the Legions were about to board a flight to Charlotte when they were searched and cocaine weighing a total of 2,045 kilograms (4 1/2) was found in the sole of the shoes they were wearing.
They were subsequently arrested and charged and were scheduled to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
