Crocodile alert!
AS the local crab season progresses, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is advising members of the public to exercise extreme caution when entering swamps, rivers, or any other water bodies to hunt crabs. These areas, according to NEPA, are usually habitats for crocodiles.
Crocodiles are now nesting and during this period they are inclined to be more aggressive and are likely to attack animals and humans when disturbed.
NEPA is also reminding the public that these animals are protected by the Wild Life Protection Act and to report any crocodile incidents to the Natural Resources and Conservation (NRCA) hotline, 1-888-991-5005.
