Vows: Forever My Love
A seat in the office behind Raheem Morrison piqued Regina Owens’ interest. The year was 2016. Eschew all thoughts of lightning striking, however! Theirs would be a gradual journey to love and indeed to the altar. Both, prior to working together, had met at different points in their life but had barely exchanged words.
Regular conversations ensued and soon a beautiful friendship developed. Indeed, they both regarded each other as confidants. Consideration was given to starting a relationship. “It didn’t quite work out,” shared Raheem with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV).
The two would remain friends but worked on each other. The third time was the charm, however, and the two soon realised that they were meant for each other.
The proposal would come eight months later during a surprise birthday party planned by Raheem at a family friend’s home in Kingston. By nightfall Regina acquiesced to sharing the rest of her life with him.
Here Comes the Bride…
The day chosen was Monday, August 15, 2022. The venue: Caymanas Golf and Country Club on the lush grass of the beautiful garden gazebo overlooking the pool with the St Catherine hills yonder.
Teeks’s First Time signalled Regina’s arrival… a picture of perfection in a sweetheart neckline satin ball gown from Helen G Bridal. Her chignon was held in place by a lace headband. She clutched a bouquet of blush pink and white roses in one hand as her grandfather Cedrick Roberts escorted her to her anxious bridegroom.
The upbeat ceremony was officiated by Pastor Glenville Carr.
Celebration Time…
The positive vibe continued at the reception held at the spacious Caymanas clubhouse, where the compère Jermaine Johnson of 876MC efficiently guided the proceedings. Spontaneous dance moves by the bridesmaids and groomsmen before taking their seats paved the way for the newly-weds who made their entrance to Update by Masicka.
Guests were asked to share their well wishes and advice for the couple. To facilitate same a microphone was passed from table to table. Members of the bridal party participated in a bridal challenge quiz to reveal how well they knew the couple. Plus, a novel twist to the shoe game saw the maid of honour and best man participating in the bridal challenge.
After dinner came the toasts. Maid of honour Pherone Shirley and best man Romier McCarthy raised toasts to the bride and groom, respectively. Family friend Kenisha Dixon toasted the bride’s parents while Kahyee Jordine toasted the groom’s parents.
Poet Naketa West also dedicated a poem entitled Your Love, My Home to the newly-weds.
The bridegroom’s emotional speech left nary a dry eye as he expressed his love for his bride, gratitude to all in attendance and the couple’s journey to the altar.
Their first dance as husband and wife to New Edition’s Can You Stand The Rain followed the toasts.
The newly-weds honeymooned at Royalton Negril.
