SO2 – October 22

Day 1 of the Jamaica Observer’s Design Week 2022 — a celebration of the best in local architecture, interior design, appliances and fixtures — culminated in a corporate mingle at the Rebirth of Kingston (ROK) Hotel Kingston’s poolside restaurant ROKstone, under the theme “A New Expression of Downtown Kingston”.

True to its name, the hotel is a reimagining of the former Oceana Hotel on Kingston’s waterfront and adds to a number of new and renovated edifices contributing to the redevelopment of the Kingston business district.

Master of ceremonies Wesley “Burgerman” Burger could not resist drawing a comparison between the ambiance at ROK and any other hotel in the cosmopolitan city of Miami, highlighting the backdrop that the Kingston Harbour provides. He also kept guests entertained and engaged with his trademark humour and trivia, with a number of patrons winning prizes such as a weekend for two and dinner for two.

ROK Hotel’s General Manager Jaap van Dam and Director of Sales & Marketing Marlene Buckridge were also present to welcome guests to the affair. Style Observer kicks off Design Week 2022 with highlights of the evening prior to showcasing the hotel’s design details.
