St James FA slaps ‘offending’ players with fines, suspensions
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Granville United FC’s Kavell Rhodes has been handed a lengthy ban and was fined by the Competitions and Disciplinary Committee of the St James Football Association at their meeting on Friday evening.
Rhodes, who was one of two Granville United FC players to face the tribunal, will miss the remainder of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League as well as the first five games next season after he was found to have used a fake name to register for the club.
The committee also ruled that the return-leg Major League game between Granville United and Heights FC that was not played on December 29, when it was originally scheduled, will now be played on Tuesday.
Rhodes had previously played for Heights FC but did not go through the transfer proceedings and used another name to register for Granville United FC.
Ironically, the deception was only found out when he played for Granville aganst Heights FC.
Meanwhile, Davin Hines was suspended for three games and fined after he was found guilty of verbally abusing the referee in their game against Flanker FC on December 16 at Granville.
He will not be eligible to play until the final game of the regular season on January 17, against Cambridge FC at the UDC Field.
