ISSA U-14, U-16 semi-finalists to be decided today
GREEN ISLAND, Hanover — The semi-final places in the ISSA/Burger King Rural Area Under-14 and Under-16 competitions could be decided today following the playing of the second round of games in the quarter-finals.
Rusea’s High and Clarendon College were winners in the first round of matches in the Under 14 competition played on Monday while four schools were winners in the Under-16: Petersfield High and Central High in Group 1 and Mannings School and Kemps Hill High in Group 2.
In the Under-16 competition, all of the first-round winners will face teams who lost and a second win would see them through to the semi-finals.
Petersfield High, who were 2-0 winners over BB Coke, will face Holmwood Technical at Holmwood, two days after the hosts were edged 1-0 by Central High.
Central High will be away to BB Coke in St Elizabeth where the home team must win to stay in contention.
In other games, Manchester High and Kemps Hill will meet in Mandeville while Mannings School will be away to Maldon High on Friday.
In the Under-14 competition, Rusea’s High who beat defending champions St Elizabeth Technical 2-0 on Monday, will be hunting back-to-back wins when they take on Green Island High in an all-Hanover clash.
Green Island had drawn their first game, against Denbigh High, and a win at home today would see them go to the top of the group.
The teams had played out a 0-0 draw when they met in the first round of the competition.
Clarendon College leads Group 2 after beating Glenmuir High 1-0 on Monday and will host Manning’s School who had played out a 1-1 draw against Holmwood Technical at home.
