#ParisOlympics: Bryan Levell advances from repechage to 200m semis
National champion Bryan Levell took full advantage of a second chance as he qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s 200m at the Olympic Games, advancing on time from the repechage round on Tuesday at Stade de France in Paris.
Levell was second in his heat in 20.47 seconds (0.6m/s), behind Canada’s Jamaica-based Brendon Rodney who ran 20.42 seconds and will hope to get into the final.
However, the second Jamaican, Andrew Hudson failed to advance after he was caught a few steps from the finish line and passed by Sweden’s Erik Erlandsson who ran a lifetime best 20.49 seconds (0.3m/s) to snatch the automatic qualifying spot.
Hudson’s 20.55 seconds was eighth best in the round with only six advancing.
