#ParisOlympics: Fifth place for Jamaican mixed 4x400m relay team
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica finished fifth in the mixed 4x400m relays on Saturday’s third day of the track and field schedule at the Olympic Games at Stade de France in Paris running 3:11.67.
The performance was an improvement on their seventh place finish three years ago in Tokyo, Japan.
The team initially finished in sixth place but was moved up a position after France was disqualified.
The Jamaicans fielded an unchanged team from the one that qualified on Friday with Reheem Hayles, Junelle Bromfield, Zandrion Barnes and Stephenie Ann McPherson battling a powerful field.
They ran slower than the national record 3:11.06 seconds.
A majestic anchor leg run from superstar Femke Bol who got the baton in fourth place, took the Netherlands team to victory in a European Area Record 3:07.43 seconds, ahead of the USA who set a world record on Friday with Great Britain third in 3:08.01 seconds.
