Ricketts, Kirlew named Jamaica’s flagbearers for Paris Olympics

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Triple jumper Shanieka Ricketts and swimmer Josh Kirlew have been chosen as flagbearers for Jamaica at next week’s opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.

The announcement was made by the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) at a press conference on Friday afternoon.

Ricketts and Kirlew will carry the country’s flag at the July 26 opening parade that will see athletes sail down the river Seine.

Two-time World Championships silver medallist Ricketts will be attending her third Olympics.

England-born Kirlew will be making his Olympic debut.
