‘Vacate home shared with wife or get housing in prison’
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC) – A city magistrate has given a schoolteacher an option to immediately vacate the premises he shares with his wife or let the court provide alternate housing in prison, as he adjourned the court matter to January 25.
Magistrate Bertie Pompey, sitting at the Colonarie Magistrate’s Court, gave Alwin Woods, 42, the option after he appeared before him on a charge of that on January 10 he assaulted Sheril-Ann Durrant-Woods causing bodily harm.
He is also charged with wilfully disobeying a court order made by the president of the Family Court Colleen McDonald on November 2022.
Woods, who pleaded not guilty to both charges, told the magistrate that he would find suitable accommodation.
Woods was granted bail of EC$2,000 with the magistrate ordering that he be accompanied by police to vacate the premise he shares with his wife.
