Port of Spain readies for region’s premier maritime conference
MORE than 300 decision-makers in the maritime sector have already registered for the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) 53rd Annual General Meeting, Conference, and Exhibition scheduled for Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from October 23-24, 2023.
This premier industry event offers shipping and logistics professionals an exceptional platform to engage in dynamic discussions and explore the latest industry trends.
The year-end conference will be hosted by The Shipping Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Trinidad, situated in the heart of the vibrant capital city.
The official opening ceremony will include a welcome by CSA General Manager Milaika Capella Ras, an address from CSA President Marc Sampson, and vote of thanks moved by CSA Vice-President William Brown.
The conference will be formally opened by Stuart Young, minister in the Office of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
The summit boasts an extensive line-up of thought leaders and experts, led by renowned leadership technologist Shane Ram who will be featured as the keynote speaker. Ram will deliver an address under the theme ‘Navigating Uncharted Waters — embracing anti-fragility for a future-ready Caribbean shipping industry’. His insights will be invaluable for industry leaders seeking strategies to enhance resilience and drive growth.
Over the course of two days the conference will delve into critical topics that are shaping the future of the Caribbean shipping and logistics sector, including disaster preparedness and emergency response; digital transformation; cruise shipping in the Caribbean; regional sustainability efforts; harnessing artificial intelligence for maritime advancements; navigating supply chain challenges in the Caribbean; and decarbonisation initiatives, among others.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with more than a dozen exhibitors showcasing cutting edge products and services that are transforming the shipping and logistics landscape.
A hallmark of the CSA’s annual general meeting is the prestigious gala dinner during which the announcement will be made regarding the recipient of the Monica Silvera Scholarship, recognising outstanding student achievements in the maritime field. Additionally, the gala will unveil the winner of the highly anticipated Port Award Competition, celebrating excellence in port management and operations across the Caribbean.
