Kiwanis Club of Kingston stages charity ball
The Kiwanis Club of Kingston hosted its annual Christmas Charity Ball on December 15 with the aim of raising funds for a range of projects.
During his brief welcome, President Newton Ramdial expressed sincere gratitude to the guests for their unwavering support of the club’s programmes.
“Your presence here tonight bears testimony to the fact that our efforts and successes were, and continue to be, in collaboration with persons and institutions which are not members of the club but share our vision of creating a society where children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them, provide the support they need to thrive,” Ramdial said.
Elegant silver and blue décor lit up the ballroom and live performances by the legendary Fab 5 band highlighted the evening which also featured a grand prize of a weekend for two at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
The club’s projects focus on improving the lives of disadvantaged children through youth programmes and community outreach. One of its major projects this year is improvement works at Chavannes Basic School in the Standpipe community in St Andrew.
Next March, the club will mark its 60th anniversary, and Ramdial shared that preparations are being made to commemorate the milestone.
