‘It is a pleasure to be back!’
DR Kevin Brown, new president of University of Technology (UTech), Jamaica, was warmly received on his first day in office at UTech on Monday.
In his remarks Dr Brown thanked the team for the warm welcome, affirming “It is a pleasure to be back!”
He added, “As some of you know, I entered the institution 26 years ago and UTech has been a transformative experience. I took a lot of what I learnt here with me to the UK and I’m really pleased to be back, and I look forward to working with all of you. It’s going to be a team effort so, yes, I’m here but all of you, all your talents will be required to do the work that we need to do to transform this institution — so I look forward to meeting all of you to talk about how we move forward.”
As president, Dr Brown will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the university, reporting directly to the council, and will be principally responsible for implementing the council’s policies to aid in the efficient operations of the university.
