FESCO enters cooking gas industry
With a promise to give customers value for money, a sense of Jamaican pride and premium service, Future Energy Source Company (FESCO) on Thursday launched its brand of cooking gas, FESGAS.
The launch took place at Funland Jamaica, Hope Gardens in St Andrew and saw Minister of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport Daryl Vaz lauding FESCO for its move into the liquefied petroleum gas industry.
“This occasion marks a pivotal moment in the journey towards achieving a sustainable and prosperous energy sector. An initiative which is fully endorsed by the Government of Jamaica. I offer heartiest congratulations to Chairman [Trevor] Heaven and his team who have worked to bring this endeavour to fruition. Their commitment to innovation and environmental consciousness is applauded,” said Vaz.
“FESCO’s introduction of LPG FESGAS into the market is an acknowledgement of the changing dynamics in our energy landscape. As we face the serious challenge of climate change, it is important that we explore cleaner, more sustainable and affordable alternatives,” Vaz added.
Heaven, in his remarks, pointed to the fact that the company reinforces its commitment to its shareholders, the Jamaican economy, its customers, and its staff.
“We are customer-centric and work assiduously in the interest of our shareholders, the Jamaican economy, our customers and our people. Every single dollar earned here in Jamaica is re-invested, unlike others who export their profits. We pride ourselves when we say that we are indeed proudly Jamaican,” said Heaven.
FESCO’s Managing Director Jeremy Barnes said the company invested $2 billion in getting FESGAS off the ground.
“We entered the cooking gas market in April this year and we have actually tripled our output. Jamaican people want FESGAS. Now, coming up this month, we’ll be launching into the commercial space. Next week, all you commercial customers, restaurants small and large and the big industries, we are going to be delivering a premium service at a very good value, customer service and safety,” said Barnes.
“We give you value, we give you a sense of pride when you come to a FESCO station. We are proudly Jamaican and we’re going to bring that energy to the cooking gas space,” he said.
Barnes added that shareholders have placed a lot of confidence in FESCO, and the team is working to continue to deliver meaningfully.
FESGAS is so far available in Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine and Manchester and parts of St Mary through its distribution outlet in Stony Hill.
The company is gradually expanding to other parishes.
The launch included a cook off featuring Boss Mom Michelle Gordon, who is also an imaginator and consultant; Noran Price, media personality; and Grammy-nominated reggae artiste Jesse Royal, who won the competition.
