Babyfather of slain teen mother listed as wanted
THE police Tuesday listed Eric “Brando” Murdock as wanted for the death of teen mother Devanese Nelson.
Commanding officer for Kingston Western Police Division Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps told the Jamaica Observer that Murdock, who is the father of Nelson’s son, is now being sought as a wanted person.
“We have upgraded the person of interest Murdock to that of a wanted person now. We have searched for him in some place that he was usually around, but we haven’t found him. We are still probing the incident,” he said.
Murdock was first listed as a person of interest Tuesday morning along with an uncle of Kings Heights, Water Street, Kingston 14.
According to Phipps, the police is seeking another person of interest from Bottom Pen, Glendevon, in St James.
He believes the person of interest who resides in St James can assist with the investigation, “so we are trying to find him”.
Nelson, a 17-year-old a student of North Street, Kingston, was shot dead on Sunday night.
The police said residents reported hearing explosions and summoned security forces. A joint search of the area was conducted with the military during which they were alerted to the Kings Heights apartment at Denham Town, Kingston.
The joint team upon entering the premises saw the door to the apartment ajar and made entry, where Nelson’s body was found in a pool of blood.
Nelson was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
