Another girls’ dormitory destroyed by fire in Guyana
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) –Another girls’ dormitory was destroyed by fire here on on Thursday.
According to the police report, shortly before 3:00 am Thursday the blaze destroyed another dormitory, this time in Karasabai, Rupununi, in Region 9, to the south of here, but so far there were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
According to government officials, “a full team of technical officials and a Cabinet member were en route to Karasabai, Region Nine, where the dormitory was destroyed by fire.”
This incident follows last month’s tragedy in which a fire at the Mahdia Secondary School’s female dormitory killed 20 students.
A 15-year-old student has been charged with murder during the course of arson.
