WATCH: Two killed in separate incidents in St Andrew
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two men were killed in two separate shootings in St Andrew on Thursday morning.
The Corporate Communications Unit, the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, confirmed both murders in the St Andrew North Police Division.
According to information reaching OBSERVER ONLINE, an elderly taxi operator was killed during a botched car-jacking during the first incident.
Reports are that at about 5:30 am, 65-year-old Neil Newsome, a taxi operator, was shot and killed by thugs along Whitehall Avenue. He was driving a white Toyota Probox just outside the Victoria Court apartments on Whitehall Avenue at the time of his death.
“It appears that the armed men wanted the Probox, but Newsome resisted and was shot,” a police source told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Then just over an hour later, in Cassava Piece, the adjoining community to White Hall Avenue, gunmen carried out another attack. A man identified as Barry Foster was killed in that incident.
Foster was believed to be the target of a shooting incident last year.
