WATCH: Queen Ifrica calls for Juliet Holness to lead fight against violence against women
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reggae artiste Queen Ifrica is calling on Member of Parliament Juliet Holness to spearhead efforts to rally Jamaicans against gender-based violence.
She made the call Thursday while speaking with reporters outside the Supreme Court, where she appeared in support of Sophia Lugg, the mother of missing social media influencer Donalee Donaldson.
“Step from backa Andrew man, and come pan di frontlines come see mothers like dem here man [pointing to Lugg] and come feel weh dem a feel in a country weh dem love,” Ifrica said of Holness, who is the wife of the prime minister.
The recording artiste also called on the Government to take stronger action against men guilty of assaulting and murdering females.
“…How unuh comfortable suh? How it suh nice fe unuh fe everyday one, two, three, four, five, six bare girl a come up rape and dead and the wul a unuh good and alright?,” a visibly upset Ifrica asked.
Donnalee’s boyfriend, Constable Noel Maitland has been charged with her murder, though her body has not been found.

Ifrica implored women from all walks of life to take a stand.
“Me want see some woman uptown weh have powers fe come and use up the social media space and come and talk on the behalf of mothers like dem here. Stop call demm poor people and anuh your business dat!” Ifrica said.
