WATCH: 500 cases of water looted after delivery truck crashes in Mandeville
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – Some 500 cases of water were looted following a two-vehicle crash on the Winston Jones Highway close to Marshall’s Pen in Mandeville on Saturday morning.
The crash, which happened shortly before 7:00 am, involved a delivery truck and a Nissan Tida motorcar. No one was seriously injured in the accident.
The driver of the truck, Rocklyn Wright, claimed that he was overtaking the motorcar when the collision occurred.
“The truck dropped (overturned) onto the car,” he said.
He added that the truck was looted immediately following the crash by passing motorists.
“Everything gone out of it enuh. Pass by vehicle, people just stop and start filling up their vehicles with water. Everything is gone, not even one case left,” he said.
A resident of Marshall’s Pen corroborated the reports of looting.
“Children and adults looted the truck. People were just filling up their cars with cases,” the resident said.
