Persistence and resilience means a lot to Vesion, so much that he wrote Lulaalae, his latest song which was released in November. It is co-produced by Sartout Records, Rapid Production and Dre Barnes.

Like most of the deejay’s songs, it is based on personal experience.

“The message in this song is basically to let anyone listening know that once you got talent, maneuver it and anything besides that is a distraction. Always be you, once I can do it, you can,” he told Observer Online.

From Papine in St Andrew, Vesion (born Roshane Brown) eyed a music career during his early teens when he was a student at Papine High School. It was not until two years ago that he began recording, releasing the song Only You, co-produced by Chaddydon and Bad Genetics.

Unlike most of his contemporaries, he is not influenced by a particular artiste or artistes. He does, however, have respect for different dancehall generations.

“There’s a lot of major influences in the music industry so I can’t pinpoint an artiste and say I look up to them. My influences came from the origination of dancehall and reggae and that’s where I set down guidelines and created my sound,” Vesion explained.
