A highly placed police source told OBSERVER ONLINE that the McLean brothers are from Cassava Piece in St Andrew.
Police theorise that the brothers were trailed from St Andrew to Manchester by gunmen.
A police report said shortly after midday the brothers and a woman were travelling in a Mercedes Benz motorcar when they stopped at a jerk centre and bar in Williamsfield.
When the brothers exited the vehicle, police say gunmen travelling in a motor car opened fire hitting them.
The highway worker who had gone to the jerk centre for lunch was shot during the melee.
The senior police source said Mark McLean had survived a contracted hit two years ago in Barbican, St Andrew.
Police theorise that both attacks are linked to the victims’ chequered past.
