Three-month completion date set for Bolt statue base in Trelawny
TRELAWNY, Jamaica— The construction of the base on which the Usain Bolt statue will be mounted at the site of the fountain in the historic Water Square in Falmouth, Trelawny, is projected for completion in three months.
The construction project got underway last week by members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).
Mayor of Falmouth and chairman of the Trelawny Municipal Corporation, Councillor C Junior Gager, indicated that the statue will be mounted soon after construction is completed.
The site of the iconic sprinter’s statue is expected to be an attraction for tourists and locals in the town of Falmouth.
Bolt, a native of Sherwood Content in the parish, holds world records in the 100 metres and 200 metres as well as the 4x100m relay.
He has eight Olympic gold medals and 11 World Championships gold medals.
