Three American friends found dead in Mexico City Airbnb
An investigation has been launched into the mysterious death of three American friends whose bodies were found inside their Airbnb while vacationing in Mexico City.
Kandace Florence and Jordan Marshall, both 28, and Courtez Hall, 33, had travelled to Mexico in late October to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead.
Reports are that Florence’s boyfriend, who opted to not join the trio on the trip, was on the phone with her the night of October 30, when the 28-year-old started feeling ill. She reportedly told her boyfriend that something was not right before the call got disconnected. He was not able to get in contact with Florence after that.
Florence’s boyfriend, who was concerned for her safety, reached out to the Airbnb host, asking to perform a welfare check.
When police arrived, Florence, Hall and Marshall were found dead.
Preliminary investigations by local authorities revealed on Tuesday that the friends “likely died” from carbon monoxide poisoning, a report said.
The families of the deceased are still concerned and demanding answers as it has been more than a week since the bodies of the three Americans were found in the Airbnb.
The families of the deceased said they have been in touch with the US Embassy in Mexico and travelled to Mexico City in person in search of an explanation for what had happened.
Florence’s father, Kelvin Florence, complained that no one in Mexico has made an effort to reach out to the relatives of the deceased back in the US and notify them.
Marshall and Florence’s bodies were expected to be flown back to the US in the coming days, while Marshall’s family still has not been able to retrieve his personal belongings, including his wallet and laptop.
