St James Municipal Corporation opens condolence book in honour of former mayor
ST JAMES Jamaica— The St James Municipal Corporation has opened a condolence book in honour of former mayor of the city of Montego Bay, Cecil Donaldson, who passed away on May 3, 2022.
The book has been placed inside the Mayor’s Parlour, the same location from which Donaldson presided over the affairs of Montego Bay when he served from 1966 to 1969 and again from 1975 to 1981.
Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Richard Vernon, who has been acting in the capacity of Mayor, said the book is available from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm weekdays, until Friday, May 20, 2022, for members of the public to express their condolences to the family of the former Mayor.
Donaldson, after whom the St James Municipal Corporation’s building at 19A Union Street is named, is the father of former Councillor and Mayor of Montego Bay, Noel Donaldson.
The former Mayor and Chairman of the St James municipal Corporation has been described as a gentle giant, a visionary and the father of Montego Bay by those who knew and worked with him.
It is understood that the funeral service for Donaldson will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
