Sone G hails God’s everlasting presence in new single
Typical of contemporary gospel artistes, Sone G does not limit his sound when it comes to praising the Lord. He continues that trend with ‘God is Always There For You’, which was released on January 13.
Produced by Judah Peters for Redemption Studio, the song has an up-tempo roots-reggae beat. Sone G sings and deejays about the constant presence of the Almighty, even in the most challenging times.
The One Drop feel, which has driven roots-reggae for over 50 years, was perfect for his message of resilience.
“I’ve always liked reggae riddims and this one was special,” said Sone G.
Based in South Florida, he hails from Rocky Point in Clarendon, which has a thriving fishing industry and sound system culture. It is where he developed an admiration for dancehall music and artistes.
Sone G scoffs at traditionalists who frown on the use of secular beats in gospel music. No matter the sound on which he records, his belief in God has never wavered.
“Strong faith is good to have but sometimes a little faith will get you through. The key is not to be doubtful and always holding on to the truth in the word of God. It’s an assurance of a better ending when going through difficult times. It serves as a cornerstone when it gets rough,” he said.
