Senior citizens robbed of cash, jewellery, firearm in St Elizabeth
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – Two senior citizens were held up and robbed of cash, jewellery and a licensed firearm at their home in Senior Town district in Junction, St Elizabeth, this morning.
The victims, ages 70 and 76 years, were surprised by thieves who broke into their home as they slept, police reported.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that around 1:48 am, the seniors were awakened by strange sounds and saw two men at their bedside. The men demanded money and jewellery.
Police said when the thieves’ demands were not met they tied up the elderly residents.
The men then searched the house and stole a gold chain with a pendant, four gold bracelets, one gold necklace with a pendant, one of the victims’ licensed firearms, J$49,000, US$6 and two cellular phones.
They left the home, and the police were summoned to the area. There, it was discovered that the men had cut off the padlock from the veranda grille and entered the house.
The Junction police are investigating.
