Security guard shot dead by police, another injured
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica— An on-duty security officer is dead and another nursing gunshot wounds in hospital after they were shot by the police in Negril, Westmoreland on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Dellon Harding, late of Seaton Crescent, in Savanna-la-Mar in the parish.
Reports are that both officers were on duty at the Sunshine Plaza in Negril, when they were shot.
Harding, who was employed to the security company Secure World is said to have been shot in the head, and his former coworker was shot in the face.
According to the Police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) a police report of the incident is unavailable as investigators are still on the scene.
It is alleged that the officers involved in the shooting incident are from the Counter Terrorism & Organised Crime Investigations Branch (CTOC).
