Robberies, killings of Westmoreland cabbie, disc jockey connected – cops
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – The Westmoreland police on Thursday said the robberies and shooting deaths of the disc jockey and taxi operator in the parish on Wednesday are connected.
The police source said the gunmen killed the taxi operator, Romie Taylor in Burnt Savannah and robbed him of a Grey 2011 Toyota Voxy motorcar.

The gunmen then proceeded to use the same stolen Voxy motor vehicle to carry out a robbery and subsequent murder of disc jockey Dave “DJ Myrie” Barnes in Little London,
an hour later.
The police described the incidents as “robberies gone bad”.
Meanwhile, Barnes’ mother said her son called shortly after the incident.
“I don’t know what happened. His father was here and got the call and he said ‘daddy mi get shot daddy’, and we asked where are you? After that we rushed off to Sav-la-Mar,” the distraught mother recalled.
She said upon reaching the hospital, the doctors pronounced her son dead.
“He’s a humble person. People love him all around. I’m wondering what he did. Maybe he was at the wrong place at the wrong time,” she reasoned.
Reports are that Barnes was outside the Hypnosis Nightclub in his car at 7:30 pm when men pulled up in a vehicle, robbed the patrons and then fired shots at the club.
He was later found suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
