Retirement Dump on fire again, arson suspected
ST JAMES, Jamaica- The Retirement Disposal Site in St James is currently on fire in another suspected case of arson.
Executive Director for the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), Audley Gordon, told OBSERVER ONLINE that the fire is believed to have erupted at approximately 2:00 am on Thursday.
Gordon further stated that, based on the fire’s sudden and violent nature, he strongly believes the disposal site is being targeted by arsonists as there was a similar fire at the facility less than a month ago.
