Regional foreign ministers meeting to discuss wide ranging agenda
GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Caribbean Community (Caricom) foreign ministers are set to meet on Wednesday to discuss a wide range of issues, including climate change, financing for development as well as Caricom relations with its traditional partners.
A statement issued by the Guyana-based Caricom Secretariat said that the hybrid 25th meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) will be chaired by Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Affairs Minister E P Chet Greene, who assumes the chairmanship for COFCOR for the next six months.
“Ministers will discuss the Community’s wide ranging bilateral relations, including with Cuba, the United States, Canada, Africa, Europe, Central America, and the Dominican Republic. They will also examine multilateral and hemispheric relations through engagements with the UN Organisation of American States, the Commonwealth, the ninth Summit of the Americas, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, among others,” the statement added.
It said border matters involving Belize and Guatemala, and Guyana and Venezuela will also be discussed and that the COFCOR precedes the three-day Caricom Agri-Investment Forum and Expo which gets under way on Thursday.
