Portland construction worker charged with murder
PORTLAND, Jamaica— A man has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed and killed another during a dispute on Friday, December 30.
The deceased has been identified as 55- year-old Calvin James of Ganga Gully in Portland.
Charged is 32-year-old Ricardo Downer, otherwise called ‘Peng’, a construction worker of Halls Avenue, Port Antonio in the parish.
Reports from the police are that about 11:00pm, Downer and James had an argument. Downer then allegedly used a knife to stab James in the abdomen. The police were summoned and on their arrival, James was reportedly seen lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Downer was later arrested and charged. He is scheduled to appear before the court on Friday, January 6.
