Police say five shot in Beryllium attack in Mandeville; two seriously injured
The police have confirmed that a total of five bystanders were injured during Friday afternoon’s attack on Beryllium Limited’s security team by heavily armed gunmen at Scotiabank’s Ward Avenue location in Mandeville, Manchester.
It was initially reported that at least three bystanders were shot and injured and had to be hospitalised.
A police source told OBSERVER ONLINE late Friday that two of the five injured persons are now undergoing surgery.
“One male received gunshot injury to his head and is currently in surgery, whilst a female received gunshots to her abdomen and is also in surgery. One female received gunshot to her hip. One male received gunshot to his right thigh, and a man received a graze to his right arm,” the source said.
Reports are that sometime after 5:00 pm, gunmen armed with high powered weapons attacked the Beryllium security team.
In a statement, Beryllium Limited said there were no injuries to the members of the security team during the shootout that ensued between them and the gunmen.
Sources told OBSERVER ONLINE that at least four gunmen were involved in the attack.
Amateur video footage, now viral on social media, shows two men armed with high powered weapons making their escape with a bag presumably containing cash.
However, the police source said the hoodlums made off with two bags containing cash. It is not yet known how much money they escaped with.
