PNP’s Luther Buchanan resigns as Chairman of Eastern Westmoreland constituency
KINGSTON, Jamaica – People’s National Party (PNP) member and chairman of the Eastern Westmoreland constituency, Luther Buchanan, has resigned from the post.
The resignation was made in a letter addressed to PNP leader, Mark Golding, on Tuesday, September 13.
Buchanan’s resignation is expected to come into effect on Wednesday, September 14.
In the letter, Buchanan shared that having served as Councillor, Member of Parliament, and the party’s Deputy General Secretary, he remains a “faithful Comrade” and sought to thank the PNP for the political exposure it has provided him.
“I must thank the party for the exposure and the many Comrades for their support and confidence within the constituency and nationally,” he wrote.
Buchanan’s resignation comes on the heels of that of Member of Parliament for St Ann South Eastern and PNP spokesperson on foreign affairs and foreign trade, Lisa Hanna. Hanna made the announcement that she would be leaving representational politics in early August.
