Parchment clocks world lead in 110m hurdles opener
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Olympic champion, Hansle Parchment opened his 2022 season winning the 110 metre hurdles at the Velocity Fest II at the National Stadium in a world leading 13.20 seconds (0.8m/s).
Parchment, who created an upset winning the 110m hurdles at last year’s Olympics Games in Tokyo, held off Rasheed Broadbell, who ran 13.31 seconds, while Michael O’Hara was third in a personal best 13.52 seconds.
His time beat the previous world lead 13.22 seconds set by Trey Cunningham, while Jamaica’s Omar McLeod slips to third place with his season best 13.27 seconds.
Olympic bronze medallist, Megan Tapper, had her fastest opener ever, running a meet record 12.80 seconds (0.3m/s) to win the 100m hurdles, breaking the previous record of 13.01 seconds.
Crystal Morrison was second with a big personal best 13.02 seconds, beating her previous best of 13.29 seconds, with Amoi Brown taking third in a season best 13.33 seconds.
