Northeast Manchester taxi operators join strike
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Scores of taxi operators whose routes terminate in the northeast Manchester town of Christiana have withdrawn their service, joining their colleagues in other parishes in protesting over aspects of the new Road Traffic Act.
The taxi operators parked their vehicles on the Succeed main road on the outskirts of Christiana leaving scores of commuters in sections of Trelawny and Manchester stranded on Monday.
A taxi operator who asked not to be named told OBSERVER ONLINE that he decided to join his colleagues as the Government is “being inconsiderate” to the plight of public passenger vehicle operators.

In recent months taxi operators say the parking arrangement on Wildman Street commonly referred to as Market Street in Christiana is dangerous.
