Mt Pleasant snap three-game winless run in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Champions Mt Pleasant FA remained on top of the points table in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League after a 2-0 win over Treasure Beach FC at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex on Thursday, snapping a three-game winless run.
The win saw Mt Pleasant remain top of the table with 22 points, four more than Arnett Gardens who have played a game less, with Tivoli Gardens and Portmore United, also on 18 points.
Also on Thursday, Portmore United beat Lime Hall Academy 3-0, Dunbeholden FC were 1-0 winners over Humble Lion, while the games between Cavalier SC and Tivoli Gardens and Vere United and Harbour View both ended in 1-1 draws.
Both Mt Pleasant FA goals came in the last 15 minutes with Atapharoy Bygrave scoring from the penalty spot in the 75th minute and substitute Marlon Allen scoring the second goal in time added on at the end of the second half.
Trevon Thorpe gave Portmore United the lead in the 34th minute while Emelio Rousseau added a second goal in the 51st minute. Omar Reid came off the bench to score a penalty late in extra time added.
Dunbeholden FC scored back-to-back wins as Donovan Segree’s 35th minute goal took them to a 1-0 win over Humble Lion FC, who were losing their third game in a row.
Orlando Russell’s 90th minute goal rescued a point for Cavalier FC after Barrington Pryce had given Tivoli Gardens the lead in the 40th minute in their game at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Harbour View also came from a goal down to earn a point against Vere United at Wembley in Clarendon; Ajeanie Talbott had given Vere United the lead in the 55th minute before Andre Fagan equalised in the 82nd minute.
