Molynes surprise Mt Pleasant in JPL
ST ANN, Jamaica – Inform Nicholas Nelson scored twice as Molynes United came from a goal down to surprise Mt Pleasant FA 2-1 in their Jamaica Premier League return round game played at Drax Hall in St Ann.
It was Molynes’ third straight win as they continued to climb up the points table and it avenges their first round 5-0 loss at home as Mt Pleasant lost back-to-back games and fell to third place.
Arnett Gardens are the leaders despite being held 1-1 by Vere United, their third straight draw. They are on 39 points, two more than Cavalier FC who were beaten by defending champions Harbour View who are tied on 36 points with Mt Pleasant who have a game in hand.
Ricardo Morris gave Mt Pleasant the lead in the eighth minute but Nelson drew Molynes level in the 27th minute then scored the winner in the 49th minute.
Arnett Gardens were minutes away from a win but Fabiki Farquharson’s penalty late in time added on saw the teams play out a 1-1 draw for the second time this season.
Fabian Reid had given Arnett Gardens the lead in the 76th minute, also from the penalty spot.
Harbour View got the better of Cavalier 2-1, to end their five-game unbeaten run with goals from Demar Rose in the 23rd minute and Oshane Staple in the 59th minute after Dwayne Atkinson had drawn Cavalier level in the 48th minute.
Portmore United won back-to-back games to climb to seventh place after blanking Faulkland FC 4-0 with Chevaughn Walsh bagging a brace, scoring in the 13th minute from the penalty spot and again in the 67th minute. Stephen Young scored in the 35th minute and Alex Marshall rounded off the scoring in the 70th minute.
In the other game that saw two Brazillian coaches matching wits, Chapleton Maroons and Montego Bay United drew 0-0.
Clovis de Oliviera was in charge of Chapleton after taking over from Lenworth Hyde while Neider dos Santos was in charge of MBU after replacing Donovan Duckey.
