Manchester taxi operator accused of fatally stabbing spouse remanded
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – A 29-year-old taxi operator accused of using three knives to fatally stab his spouse in front of two children last month was remanded when he appeared in the Manchester Parish Court on Wednesday.
The accused, Kevon Lesley, otherwise called “Nice”, made his second court appearance on Wednesday before presiding judge Monique Harrison.
Lesley, who is being represented by attorney Norman Godfrey, was remanded to reappear in court on May 18 when a committal hearing is expected to happen.
The defense is to be served documents on the bundle date, May 10, ahead of the hearing.
A group of placard-bearing protestors including relatives and friends of the victim converged outside the court at James Warehouse Plaza demanding justice.
On March 10, Lesley allegedly stabbed his common-law wife, Shadae Brown, 28, a surgical assistant at their home in Daley’s Grove, Newport in front of Brown’s 11-year-old son and a five-year-old boy.

A senior police source said investigators believe the couple had a dispute about 8:30 pm. A police report said the man then proceeded to take the knives to stab Brown repeatedly before fleeing the scene.
The children were reportedly locked inside the house with Brown’s body. After hours of trying to get out the house to seek assistance, the 11-year-old alerted neighbours.
Lesley was held by the police on Saturday, March 11.
