Man who eluded cops for over three years slapped with gun charges
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A 27-year-old man, who reportedly eluded the police for over three years, was slapped with several charges after being found with a firearm in his possession in Old Harbour, St Catherine.
Charged with shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition is Kerron Copeland, a labourer of Barton district in Old Harbour in the parish.
Reports from the police are that on June 17, 2020, about 9:30 am, lawmen visited a premises in the community when they were allegedly met with gunfire from Copeland before he made his escape in the area.
In another incident on July 29 this year, about 10:40 pm, lawmen were conducting an operation in the area when they signalled a car to stop.
It is alleged that Copeland alighted from the vehicle and was apprehended and searched. One Glock 19 firearm with a magazine affixed containing three cartridges was reportedly taken from his waistband.
He was subsequently arrested and charged on Monday, August 7 following the execution of a warrant.
