Man who absconded bail in 2020 arrested in St Elizabeth
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police in St Elizabeth are reporting that a man who was wanted for illegal possession of firearm, among other offences, was arrested during a targeted raid in Bethsalem district on Tuesday.
Head of the St Elizabeth police, Superintendent Kenneth Chin, said Carim Myers absconded bail in 2020 while on trial in Manchester for firearm possession.
“On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, between 3:30 am and 5:00 am, a team of police from the St Elizabeth Division carried out a targeted raid in Bethsalem District, Maggotty in search of illegal firearms and illegal drugs believed to be in possession of Carim Myers, who was wanted by the police,” said Chin.
“Carim Myers was on bail during his trial before the court in Manchester for the offence of illegal possession of firearm. He absconded bail after he was found guilty in 2020 and was sentenced to serve time and has been on the run since. During the raid the said Carim Myers of Bethsalem District was arrested and warrants which were at the station executed on him,” added Chin.
