Man in custody for breaches of the Firearms Act
CLARENDON, Jamaica – The Clarendon police have taken a man into custody, who they say is wanted in another jurisdiction for breaches to the Firearms Act, during a stop and search operation in the parish earlier today.
Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of operations in Area 3, Carey Duncan said the person was travelling in a private vehicle with a child and female.
“We have also apprehended some persons who we believe are persons of interest for other crimes who will be interviewed,” DSP Duncan said.
He added that Friday’s operation was a collaboration with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) the Narcotics and K9 units under ‘Operation Reclaim,’ which is a method being used to cauterise crime in Clarendon, Manchester and St Elizabeth, with the focus on Clarendon on Friday.
In the meantime, DSP Duncan is asking motorists to be patient when they encounter such activities.
“We understand that motorists will be late but we do this with their best interests at heart and it is about safety and security of the space,” he said.
