Man charged for allegedly stealing $150,000 in cash and items from church hall, caught on CCTV
ST JAMES, Jamaica – A 28-year-old man has been charged after he was allegedly caught on camera stealing over $150,000 in cash and items from a church hall in St James last month.
Twenty-eight-year-old Audley Graham of Bogue Hill in the parish has been charged with housebreaking and larceny.
Reports from the Montego Bay police are that the church hall was securely locked on July 14. Upon the arrival of the priest the following day, about 8:04 am, he discovered that a door was breached.
A stihl chain saw valued at $55,000, Ulefone Armor 3W cell phone valued at £300 ($55,500), a portable charger and jump starter valued at US$58 ($8,439) and 200 euros ($31,820) were reported missing.
A report was made to the police and an investigation launched.
A review of the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) was conducted and Graham, who was no stranger to the church’s property, was reportedly seen committing the offences.
