Man accused of robbing laptop from Portland home charged

PORTLAND, Jamaica – A 34-year-old man has been accused of breaking into a home, and assaulting a female resident before stealing a laptop in Cotton Tree district, Portland on December 20.

Charged with burglary, larceny and indecent assault charges is Patrick Charles, a labourer of Nelson Street in the parish.

According to police reports, about 2:25 am, two women were at home when they were awakened by strange sounds. Charles reportedly assaulted one of the women in the process.

An alarm was made, and he exited through a window.

The women later realised that their home was ransacked and a laptop valued at $100,000 was stolen.

They reported the incident and Charles was subsequently arrested and charged.
