LMU beat Patrick Ewing’s Georgetown at Jamaica Classic
ST JAMES, Jamaica – Loyola Marymount University (LMU) overcame a 10-point deficit at half time to beat Georgetown University 84-66 in their game on the opening day of the Jersey Mike’s Jamaica Classic at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St James.
Loyola Marymount ran their season record to three wins and two losses as they beat Georgetown for the second time at the Jamaica Classic after an upset 65-52 victory in 2018.
It was a forgettable second half for the Georgetown Hoyas, coached by Jamaican-born former NBA superstar Patrick Ewing, as they were outscored 52-24 under a barrage of three-point baskets.
Four LMU players scored in double-digits led by Keli Leaupepe with 15 points and nine rebounds, making three of four three-pointers in the second half.
Justin Ahrens scored 12 points, making four of seven three-point attempts while Rick Issanza and Cam Shelton both scored 10 points each.
Brandon Murray scored a game high 19 points to lead Georgetown, Jay Heath scored 15 points, Qudus Wahab scored 12 and Primo Spears scored 10 points.
