Konshens says wife safe after missing report
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Latoya Spence, the wife of dancehall star Konshens, has been found after she was reported missing in Miami, Florida.
The deejay, whose given name is Garfield Spence, made the announcement via Instagram Wednesday.
Reports were that his four month pregnant wife had been last seen driving on Monday around 3:00 pm.
Konshens in his post said she was safely located at a hospital where she is being treated following an accident.
“Found her. She is safe. She had an accident and got admitted without my knowledge,” he shared.
He explained that he had made checks to hospitals in the area but had not been successful which then led him to report the incident to the Miami Police Department.
“Realising she was not responding to calls and texts, I started calling around to hospitals. After calling all hospitals in the area and them all saying no patient by that name was there, I had no choice but to alert the police. The police did their own search and found out that she was indeed admitted,” Konshens said.
“Many thanks for all the calls and prayers, she is now in recovery with no serious injuries, give thanks. This is a tuff time for our family and I will appreciate all the privacy we can get at this time. Thanks again to Miami PD for their swift action,” he added.
Konshens and Latoya, the mother of his son, tied the knot on November 19, 2017 in Florida at Fort Lauderdale Marriot Harbour Beach Resort and Spa.
The entertainer has alluded to the couple enduring marital struggles on a number of occasions and, in 2019, hinted that they had parted ways for good via a post to Instagram.
He also revealed in the post that he has been depressed and suicidal since his older brother, dancehall artiste Delus, committed suicide in 2016, and needed to “fix himself as a person” and “fix his head too”. He further expressed hopes that his wife would find happiness with someone “deserving”.
The post had sent social media into a frenzy. Latoya had later clarified that she was not leaving her husband and was committed to helping her husband heal fully.
